The inauguration of the new office on the 150th anniversary of Luigi Einaudi’s birth celebrates liberal thought in a city that bridges cultures

On Wednesday, October 22nd, as part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Luigi Einaudi’s birth, the Einaudi Foundation inaugurated its new office in Trieste, hosted within the Manlio Cecovini International Association for Cultural Dissemination at Viale Miramare 23.

The initiative, strongly supported by Enrico Samer, member of the Foundation’s Board, represents an important step in strengthening the Foundation’s presence in a city that has long embodied openness and European dialogue. During the ceremony, Samer highlighted the symbolic importance of Trieste for liberal thought and the historical connection between Luigi Einaudi and Manlio Cecovini, documented through their correspondence.

Andrea Cangini, Secretary General of the Foundation, explained that Trieste was chosen for its role as a crossroads of cultures, religions, and ethnicities that have coexisted harmoniously. He also announced the launch of a School of Liberalism and a new international initiative based in Trieste, focused on the Balkans.

Matteo Devescovi, President of the Cecovini Association, who recalled Cecovini’s example of rationality, mediation, and European vision, opened the event. Massimo Tognolli, Trieste’s Councillor for Social Policies and Welfare, welcomed the Foundation on behalf of the city, emphasizing how it represents a new cultural and social excellence destined to integrate into the city’s vibrant network of institutions.
